| PROJECT #2 |

What is place?  What is space?

Read over the handout of the intro to Chapter 3: Place and Space in Photography - PositioningTowards Virtual Places and Spatial Objects from the book “Photography Theory in Historical Perspective”  by Helen Westgeest and Hilde van Gelder

Think about what the concepts of space and place mean to you and how you can convey them visually using the two dimensional space of a photograph.

Using a digital capture device (camera, camera phone, computer camera) test out your ideas.  Feel free to shoot using color or B&W settings.

Using an analog camera (35mm or Yashica twin lens Medium Format) shoot one roll of B&W film that incorporates the ideas you shot digitally.  Then shoot a roll that is not preconceived - experiment  - and see where the experience takes you.  We will develop both rolls (or if you are using a 36 exposure 35mm roll - shoot half and half).  Feel free to shoot more than one or two rolls as well
-->, the more negatives you have to choose from when printing the better. .
